SEATTLE -- Seattle police on Friday arrested a suspect in the slaying of a 51-year-old man shot to death early Friday at the corner of Fourth Avenue and James Street, The Seattle Times reported.
As of Friday afternoon, the man's name had not been released.
Police said the shooter had fled the scene, and that a witness saw a car circling the neighborhood the same block before the shooting.
He said the car did not stop in the street, but made its way south on James Street, where the victim was shot shortly before 1 a.m.
The witness said he was talking to another man on the street when he heard shots and saw the victim drop.
Police originally responded to a report of gunshots fired at 1:10 a.m. Friday. When they arrived, they found the victim on the ground with a gunshot wound, police said.
The victim was taken to Harborview Medical Center, where he died.
The Times reported that police arrested a 31-year-old man at a motel in Southwest Seattle about 7 a.m. Friday on suspicion of involvement in the shooting.
He will be booked into King County Jail on suspicion of second-degree murder. His name has not been released.
