Amando’s Hideaway is a cozy restaurant with good food at reasonable prices.
It is located on Ocampo Privada #18 in west Ajijic just east of Danza del Sol Hotel south of Zaragoza which is the first street south of the carretera (highway). The phone # for reservations which are needed is: (376) 766 -2999.
Hours are Monday to Saturday from 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm and they are closed on Sundays. Appetizers consist of Shrimp Cocktail, Avocado stuffed with Shrimp, Mushroom Flambe, Melted Cheese with Sausage and Melted Cheese with Mushrooms ranging in price from $55.00 – $66.00 pesos.
Soups are Soup of the Day, Cream of Shrimp, Clam Chowder and Cream of Mushroom ranging in price from $33.00 – $90.00 pesos.
Salads are Caesar, Garden, Shrimp and Ham Rolls Vinaigrette ranging in price from $33.00 – $77.00 pesos.
Under meat they have pork chops $99.00, Filet Mignon $105.00, Filet Mignon Brochette $105.00. A really good table side preparation of Pepper Steak is available along with Shrimp in Wine Sauce and Fish Almandine as their specialties.
There are a variety of Fajitas including Steak, Shrimp, Fish, Red Snapper, Seafood Cheese Melt, Shrimp Brochette and Surf and Turf all for $105.00 pesos.
My favorite dessert is Bread Pudding but they also have other daily specials such as Kahlua Parfait.
There are a selection of specialty coffees including, Spanish, Irish, French or Mexicano and a full bar and wine list.
Armando’s Hideaway is under new management and is run by a mother/daughter team. We found the service to be warm and efficient.
