Autumn (Otono) in Ajijic, Lake Chapala
This is another wonderful time of year in Ajijic, Lake Chapala. The rainy season is over in a little more than 2 weeks. September has been great for rainfall which is good for Lake Chapala and the mountains are green, velvety and plush.
The temperatures have dropped a little to a very pleasant 75 degrees F. and we start gearing up for “the season” of social engagements.
First we have Canadian Thanksgiving, October 14th, then Halloween, October 31st, followed by American Thanksgiving, November 28th then Christmas/Navidad.
People start making their plans for the holidays and the snow birds start getting ready to return sometime in November.
Even now it is busier in Ajijic, Lake Chapala. Restaurants have more diners, stores have more customers and real estate is starting to move more quickly.
If, however, you do need to get your car fixed now is a good time to do it. The mechanics are not that busy and they will pick up and deliver your car to your house which is a service not always offered.
The carretera is busier denoting more people from Guadalajara returning to Lakeside and the amenities we have to offer.
This year our daughter and grandson are coming from California for Christmas and our son and his wife are coming from Toronto as well. Everyone is already booked and we are very excited that the entire family will be together for the holidays.
Things seem to be coming back to life and there is an excitement in the air. It is a wonderful season of anticipation and this is the times of year most loved by the Mexican people.
It is also great that friends who have not yet retired or who are tying up loose ends up north will be returning.
Great friends and family – what more could one want to celebrate all the excitement and warmth this season has to offer?
