Daylight Savings Time 2015

A couple of major events happened yesterday.  There was no Downton Abbey on TV and it will no tbe coming back until January 2016.  Also the north changed to Daylight Savings time which mean they all lost an hour.

No one is every happy about Daylight Savings Time and here in our part of Mexico – Ajijic, Lake Chapala – we do not put our clocks forward until Sunday, April 5th.

This upsets the apple cart in a number of ways.  First, if you have television from Canada or the US you have to sync your programming to the fact that we are now 2 hours behind them.  So if your favorite program usually comes on at 9:00 pm our time it will now be on at 7:00 pm instead of 8:00 pm.

Naturally, one has to reorganize one’s entire schedule to make sure no important program is missed.

Also if you are in contact with friends and family in the frozen north you have to take the time change into account.  For example, if you normally Skype someone up north at 1:30 pm on a Saturday you now have to make the call at 12:30 pm.

I remember the old adage about time change which goes:  Spring forward in the Spring and Fall back in the Fall.  I am sure this has served us all well over the years.

We lose an hour of sleep when we spring forward one hour in the Spring which no one is ever happy about.

Once the time changes here Sunday,  April 5th you can expect people to be late showing up for work or appointments.  It is always well publicized when the change is but some people still seem to be caught unawares.

To recap Daylight Savings Time is now in effect up north and it takes place here in Ajijic, Lake Chapala,Sunday, April 5th.

So for the next 4 weeks one has to be alert about being 2 hours behind the north rather than one.  All will get back to normal Sunday, April 5th when we again will be only one hour behind the north.

We still live in paradise and our weather is still sublime even though it has warmed up in Toronto, Canada to 1 degreee and is sunny.
