Dermatology

We live in a country where we have lots of beautiful sunshine which is very good for the soul. Unfortunately, it is not as good for the skin and that is why regular skin care screenings are very necessary. The Lake Chapala Society on Independencia in Ajijic, Lake Chapala offers free Skin Cancer Screening the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month from 10:00 to 12:00 noon. Sign up is required for these screenings. Here Dr. Ballesteros works with Dr. Jerry Smith a noted cosmetic surgeon here in Ajijic.

Another option is to make an appointment with Dr. Martha R. Ballesteros Franco. Dr. Martha Ballesteros is a Dermatologist who also specializes in microdermabrasion, revitalization, skin rejuvenation programs and skin cancer screening.

Dr. Martha Ballesteros is now located in the bright new Medical Center on Hidalgo # 293 in Chapala and appointments can be made for Tuesdays and Thursdays at 765-7777, 765-7778 and 765-7779.

Dr. Martha also works in Guadalajara at Jesus Garcia # 2574. Tel. (0133) 3640-9010 Fax: (0133) 3640-9013.

Her cell # for emergencies is (045) 333 408 0951 and you may also contact her by email at: skin_ballsteros@hotmail.com

I have had quite a bit of experience with Dr. Ballesteros over the years always with a most satisfactory result. I find her to be extremely professional and although she is far from being an alarmist she understands the urgency of some situations and takes prompt action.

Dr. Ballesteros scans you completely for any suspect moles or lesions and also tells you how to scan yourself at home for any changes.

Results of any biopsies are delivered promptly and the subsequent course of treatment clearly spelled out clearly for insurance purposes.

The best two step prevention for skin cancer is at least a 30 Sun Block used whenever you are outdoors and regular skin care screenings.

Today I had an appointment with Dr. Ballesteros and am happy to report the suspected culprit is a benign cyst.

Dr. Ballesteros also speaks English.

If you have any suspicious moles or lesions it is good to have them checked out. You will feel much better if you do. Dr. Ballesteros, like me, is a great believer in prevention and early detection which as we now know saves lives.
