Doctor Pinta Optica

We all need to take care of our vision as we get older.  When we were first in Ajijic, Lake Chapala almost 23 years ago our only choice was some hole in the wall “optician” in Chapala.  Although the girl wsas very nice they spoke no English and I cannot remember what I wanted but I do remember they did not have it nor did they know where I could get it.

I ended up getting my contacts sent to me from Canada which was another nightmare as they got caught in customs. Whatever paperwork I sent to them was not what they needed so I had customs send them back to the sender and gave them a different address at, then, Mail Boxes Etc. (now IShop)and they got them through customs and I could once again see to put on my eye makeup.

A few years later I stopped wearing contacts as I was constanty getting dust in them and returned to glasses.

I was thrilled when Doctor Pinto opened his office near Maskaras and immediately went to him for glasses and sunglasses and was thrilled with the result.

Dr. Pinto does eye exams for free and has all the up -to-date equipment and inspires great confidence with his lovely eyeside manner.  I said I thought my needing a new prescription was due to aging and he said “don’t talk about sad things”.  He is very funny and very nice.

My last prescription was Aug. 2010 and as I had suspected it had changed.  Not a lot but enough to want a new eye exam.  Everything else is fine and no need for surgery which made me very happy.  I had been talking to my friends about cataract surgery last night so was delighted I was not yet a candidate.

The office is open from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm and Doctor Pinto is there from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.

I spoke to him yesterday and went this morning at 10:00 am sharp and was home at 10:30 am a new prescription in hand, lovely new frames selected which I will get in a week Ojala que si which means God willing.
