Late last night our daughter and grandson arrived from Sacramento much later than expected but arrived nonetheless. They had been up since 3:30 am and it was a very long day for both of them. Now all our immediate family is together and last night we had a birthday celebration for our son who lives with his wife in Toronto but are here for 2 weeks for the holidays which makes us very happy.
We made a lovely dinner and we ate outside on the terraza which is one of the many things we love about Ajijic, Lake Chapala. Our family from up north particularly loved it as it is somewhere around -15 Celsius in Toronto and snowing.
Later other friends came over to celebrate and we played games, drank champagne and had a lovely time.
I remember when our son was younger and used to come home from university always in time for his birthday. We would give him some pesos and he would be out the door to see his friends.
This year it is very reminiscent of those days and it is a pleasure to have our family around us. We also have wonderful friends arriving tomorrow so this will indeed be a very special Christmas and New Year’s.
On Christmas Day we will make Skype contact with other family members and friends who are not lucky enough to be with us in paradise.
Ajijic is a wonderful place any time of year but Christmas is truly a beautiful and very special season.
There are wonderful celebrations and many charities of which donations are always welcome. The restaurants all have special food menus to celebrate the season and the warm and kindness of the Mexican people is all around us.
For those who are not fortunate enough to have family and friends around them this year you are always very welcome to join in any fiestas, posadas and celebrations of the Mexicans.
You can check The Guadalajara Reporter for notices of any events going on throughout the area.
Have a warm, happy and loving Christmas Season in our amazing village in the sun.
