Januray is a very interesting month in Ajijic, Lake Chapala. The very busy Christmas and New Year festivities are over most decorations are put away and life is slowly getting back to normal.
It is a peaceful time the lull before the storm, if you will, and the frenzy of the “season” is not quite yet upon us.
Visiting relatives are going home and houses are becoming quieter and one is able to have a minute or two to themselves. Don’t get me wrong we did have a wonderful Christmas with our famly and friends and have wonderful memories of a great festive season.
Our son gave us a wonderful Christmas present which he likened to giving penquins a fax machine. Perhaps that was because of the blank look on or faces when he gave it to us. It is a Chromecast device you plug into your TV and allows you to watch your favorite movies and shows that have been downloaded onto your computer on your TV. He downloaded lots of new movies and shows nto my computor before he left and did offer to give us a lesson how to use the new device.
We sort of declined but then my husband wanted to watch one of the downloaded shows and left it up to me to make it happen.
I am very proud to announce that I did, in fact, figure it out and he happily watched 4 episodes of his show. It did, however, ask my son to send me instructions as I am not quite sure exactly what I did to make it work.
None of our children watch TV anymore and everything is done on their phones. He suggested that we no longer needed Shaw Direct but could download whatever we wanted. Although, that did seem like a cost efficient option my one concern that here in Ajijic, Lake Chapala the internet does go out from time to time and then we would be left with no entertainment at all.
I think we will continue with Shaw for the moment but are very happy with our new found expansion of entertainment possibilities including any Netflix options.
It is great learning something new and we are delighted with our present and very pleased that we are smarter than penquins with a new fax machine.
I have no idea if you can get this Chromecast device here in Ajijic, Lake Chapala, but with the very economical Amazon delivery to Mexico that is now available getting one should not be a problem.
