Navidad (Christmas) 2017 in Ajijic, Lake Chapala

Navidad is a wonderful time of year in Ajijic, Lake Chapala.  Albeit it is a little colder than usual but at least we know it will be warm again soon.

There are many activities to enjoy at this time of year such as Children’s Posadas, Bazaars, Christmas Sales to name and few and other events.  You can check out the Ajijic News Web Page at ajijicnews.com which will give you a full listing of events and activities for this beautiful season.

The Noche Buenas or Poinsettas, which we always thought just came in pots in Canada, grow in gay profusion here and our garden is filled with a blooming Noche Buena tree.  They are everywhere and they are beautiful and very festive.

The Nueva Posada (Donato Guerra #9 in downtown Ajijic) is beautifully decorated and their Christmas tree is made totally out of corn husks.  Very festive and very traditional.  You can go there for a warm bowl of excellent soup and enjoy the lights inside and also outside in the garden.

Also there are many orphanages, charities and senior centers which would love to have a donation of money, gifts for the children or your time over the holidays.

Check the listings n the Guadalajara Reporter or Ojo del Lago to find out where the best Chrstimas dinners are being served.  When we are in town we would always chose to have Christmas dinner at La Nueva Posada, as for us, it was the best.

Arboles de Navidad (Christmas trees) can be found at El Bar Co. or Walmart and Walmart is also filled with wonderful decorations and gifts for those of all ages.
