Robbie Burns Dinner

This is an event we have attended several times and always enjoyed ourselves.  We thought we would share the information on this year’s Robbie Burns Dinner with you.  Also it benefits a great charity – Ninos Incapacitados.

If you have even a wee drop of Scottish blood in you, January 25 is a date to remember and celebrate! We’re hosting a Robbie Burns Dinner on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at the Real de Chapala starting at 5:00 pm. Come and join us in celebrating the life and works of Scotland’s greatest poet.

There’ll be a delicious dinner, complete with a bite of haggis and a dram of Scotch. We’ll have a piper, of course, and the Scottish Country Dancers of Ajijic will perform and then invite guests to join them on the floor. After the traditional short addresses, tributes and toasts, everyone gets to sing their favourite songs.

We’ll begin the evening in the Salón Tabachines on the upper level, and then move downstairs in a Grand March to the Salón Eucaliptos for dinner.

Tickets are $350 pesos a person. To book tickets or reserve a table for 10, or seats at an open table, please contact Phyl Gaskell at 766-2722, phylgaskell@gmail.com; or Kari Higgins at 766-3651, kari.ppni@gmail.com. Jane Hainsworth 766-1937

Tickets will also be available at Charter Club Tours in Plaza Montaña, Ajijic, in the New Year.

There will also be a special silent auction item for sale: The Poetical Works of Robbie Burns, Volumes 1-3, from the rare old books Elzevir Collection (originally only 100 printed) published by John Morris, Philadelphia (between 1870-1900).

Please “Come and take a cup o’ kindness wi’us for auld lang syne” and for the children in our program who need our help so desperately.
